Orange shirts worn to commemorate that Every Child Matters can be sometimes difficult to find especially for children as it is not a colour that is commonly carried in retail stores.

Why orange?
The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

When is orange shirt day?
Orange Shirt Day - also called Every Child Matters Day - usually falls on September 29 or 30 unless those dates fall on a weekend then it is the last Friday of the month when schools designated it.
In 2023,  it falls on Friday 29 September.
In 2024,  it will be Friday 28 September.

Why orange shirt day?
Students wear orange t-shirts to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools in Canada.
